One of the things we learn from sociology is that the positions we occupy can shape what we say, even to the point where it sometimes seems like we are almost reading pre-ordained scripts. As a parent, I’ve certainly caught myself saying some version of “Because I said so” on more than one occasion. I think it was that reality that made this YouTube video catch my eye.

The mom in the video is Anita Renfroe, and she claims she condensed the things a mom would say in a 24-hour period down to two minutes and fifty-five seconds and set it to the William Tell Overture (lyrics available here). This is one of those videos that went viral and she was invited on TV talk shows and interviewed for major publications so it must have touched a nerve.

In fact, she’s managed to parlay it into a regular appearance on Good Morning America with new video observations.
