Someone posted a link to “Sociology at the Movies” in the comments and I wanted to highlight the link here on the front page. That site includes reviews of forty films from a sociological perspective. It suggests, for example, that we might learn something about culture from “Austin Powers, about stratification from “Sweet Home Alabama,” about gender and sexuality from “American Pie,” and about race and ethnicity from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.” In the reviews it suggests how we might learn sociological lessons from the films. I have to confess that it would be fun to watch some of these films with others and discuss them in the way suggested.

Any suggestions for other films and where they’d fit and why? (To post, just click on the “comments” link beneath this sentence.)
